Wow Baking Company’s Gluten Free Chocolate Brownies

Earlier I had written a post about gluten free cookies available at Z Pizza restaurants.( http://glutenfabulous.org/2014/03/12/z-cafe-has-added-gluten-free-cookies-to-their-menu/) The same bakery which produces the gluten free cookies, WOW Baking Company (wowbaking.com), is now offering a gluten free chocolate brownie, also available at Z Pizza and online!

According to their website, the “WOW Baking Company is dedicated to producing soft, chewy, and delicious tasting, wheat-free and gluten-free baked goods available anywhere. We make our products in small batches with premium all natural ingredients like real butter, real vanilla and natural cane juice. Better still you’ll never find hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, artificial flavors or wheat and gluten in anything we make.”

However, be warned that if you have a milk, eggs or soy allergy in addition to your gluten allergy, this product may not be right for you as it does contain those ingredients and may contain traces of nuts as well. The package is clearly marked.

INGREDIENTS: Chocolate (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa, butter, butterfat, soy lecithin, vanilla), eggs, cane sugar, butter (milk), gluten free flour (brown rice, white rice, tapioca), unsulphured molasses, corn starch, potato starch, xanthan gum, salt, baking soda, pure vanilla.

I found the brownies to be comparable in taste to other commercial brownies out on the market. The texture, not surprisingly, was very crumbly and dry. But, we have come to expect that from gluten free baked goods. I personally prefer their cookies over the brownies but if you have an incurable craving for brownies, you may want to give these a try. They will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.

Keep in mind, as with other gluten free baked goods, each 1.4 oz. packaged brownie is loaded with 322 calories.
